Court sentences former MNA and PTI leader Aijaz Chaudhry in fake degree case


Islamabad: Court sentenced PTI leader Aijaz Chaudhry to three years in prison and also fined the political leader in fake degree case. 

According to media sources, Chaudhry is shifted to Mandi Bahauddin District Jail after court’s order to pay twenty thousand fine and serve three years prison. Court gave the decision on the plea of Election Commission of Pakistan on the fake degree of former MNA Aijaz Chaudhry.

Chaudhry won national assembly election from Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz seat in Mandi Baha Uddin; later joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf. He was elected twice as MNA from the area.

In 2015, three member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali sustained a decision of the election tribunal to disqualify Aijaz Chaudhry on charges of possessing a fake degree and his involvement in human smuggling.
